Motherhood & Mindfulness

Random acts of silliness often do break the ice and add a fun dimension to tricky situations! Amidst the chaos of motherhood, I find myself dipping into my own bag of tricks too, sometimes spontaneously breaking out into song and dance (much to my toddler's amusement). When all else fails, an emergency snack often becomes the coveted distraction that buys me some precious alone time.
Having a versatile toolkit for these tricky situations is handy! The snacks trick is a win-win: calms down the child and provides a much-needed energy boost for mums too!

As a fellow mum, I can certainly relate to your bag of tricks! Motherhood is a wild ride, full of unexpected challenges. You've reminded me that it's the little things that count when it comes to entertaining toddlers and keeping ourselves sane. Spontaneous songs and dances - check! Crazy faces - check! And yes, snacks are a sure-fire winner too, albeit a last resort as cleaning up crumbs with a frazzled mind is not ideal!

It's heartening to hear the creative ways others manage their little ones too; it certainly takes a village to raise a child these days!

As mothers, we've got to keep our Bag of Tricks well-stocked! Snacks always seem like a foolproof solution to buy some peace and quiet... at least momentarily!
Silliness definitely breaks the monotony and adds spark to our days! And yes - those moments become funny family anecdotes that bring us joy long after they've passed. We're creating these beautiful memories, aren't we?

Agreed! I enjoy preparing these sensory toys with my daughter on a Sunday afternoon. We use different coloured glitter, sequins, or even small plastic gems, so each calming jar is unique and themed. One tip would be to ensure the glitter isn't too thick so that it takes forever to settle - no one's got time for that! Also, letting your toddler decorate the jar encourages their creativity and sense of ownership. This means they are more willing to reach for this calming activity when big emotions strike!
