Hi everyone, please feel free to share your special community birth tales here! Whether it's a heartwarming story of midwives and doulas supporting a natural birth or an unexpected tale that ended up with a beautiful outcome, we're here to celebrate all the amazing stories that involve our precious community of women supporting each other through this incredible journey.
I'll go first!
Location: Local birthing center
My experience began at 3am with subtle contractions. I was due in two weeks and had been experiencing braxton hicks for months, but these felt a little different - a little more regular and intense. I timed them discreetly and they were 10 minutes apart for over an hour.
I woke up my partner and we slowly got ready, filling our birth kit and grabbing some snacks. The car ride to the birthing center was nerve-wracking but exhilarating. We arrived and the midwives greeted us calmly, helping us set up in a cozy room with a big bath.
The contractions intensified quickly, and I labored mostly in the tub. The warm water was soothing, and with each contraction, I felt the support of my partner's hands on my shoulders. The midwives quietly moved around the room, providing cool cloths and encouraging words.
After hours of intense labor, the urge to push came naturally. And then, in a moment of incredible relief and joy, our baby was born - healthy and crying loudly!
The midwives helped me deliver the placenta and comforted me through the third stage while my partner cradled our child. We spent over an hour bonding, skin-to-skin and breast feeding, before moving to a private room for the night.
It was an empowering, natural birth - one I'll always cherish thanks to the amazing community midwives who supported us every step of the way! Now, we're excited to bring our little one home.
