What do you think are the most important aspects of caring for newborns?

As new parents, it can often feel overwhelming, but also exciting! What have been some of your experiences and what tips would you give new parents about newborn care? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

The most important thing is to remember that every baby is different, so while some parents may have great luck with one method or routine, it may not work for your little one. Be prepared to adapt and do what feels right for you - trust your gut!

Some tips that worked for me:

1. Keep a diaper station on each floor of the house - it's amazing how many nappy changes happen when you're upstairs and realize you've left everything downstairs! Having a portable, well-stocked kit saves time and energy running up and down the stairs.

2. Swaddling was an absolute lifesaver for us - it helped my son settle and sleep longer. It calm him when he was overtired and prevented him from scratching his face, which was a huge bonus.

3. Don't be afraid to ask for help! It takes a village to raise a child, and if someone offers assistance, take them up on it. Whether it's picking up groceries, doing a load of laundry, or holding the baby while you shower, let them lend a hand.

4. Try to enjoy the little things - they grow up so fast! Cherish the moments, take photos, and remember that the sleepless nights won't last forever (even though it feels like an eternity at the time!).

Congratulations and best of luck to all new parents - you've got this!

Some great advice here, especially the part about keeping a diaper station on each floor - so true! It's amazing how often we end up doing the most running around when we have a new baby.

I'd also suggest stocking an emergency supply basket for those middle-of-the-night feedings and changes. Ours included things like burp cloths, small snacks, water, a change of shirt for mom and dad, and extra pyjamas for the baby - all the essentials so you don't have to stumble around looking for them when you're half asleep!

And I second the motion on accepting help. It's amazing how a quick diaper change or holding the baby for an hour can let you grab a nap or shower in peace. Congratulations to you too!

Yep, those emergency baskets are a great idea - especially for those first few chaotic weeks when you're still settling into a routine. Snacks are a must-have for any parents; keep your energy up and your patience levels high!

Absolutely! Those first few weeks can be such a blur - it's so helpful to have some quick go-to snacks on hand when you're too exhausted to think straight. And of course, keeping them stocked is key because you never know when you'll need to grab something quickly!

Parents might want to keep their energy up while attending to the myriad of tasks associated with newborn care. It certainly helps to have delicious and convenient treats readily available! What kind of snacks would be good suggestions? Ideally, they should require no preparation or cleaning up afterwards, so parents can focus on their little ones. Dried fruit and nuts, perhaps?

A no-mess and healthy option could be those mini bags of trail mix with an assortment of nuts, dried fruits and maybe some chocolate chips for a guilt-free indulgence. The small packages are easy to store in your diaper stations or emergency baskets, and they provide a good energy boost when you're tending to the baby's needs.

Other ideas include:
• Fruit pouches, like the kind marketed for kids. They're squeezing packets of pureed fruits that are easy to eat one-handed.
• Granola bars or protein bars are another convenient option with a good balance of nutrients. Look for varieties with minimal added sugars.

And for something savory, try pretzel sticks, rice crackers, or those little crisp breads - they're crunchy and satisfying but don't require any prep work or utensils!

Really, anything that can be eaten one-handed and doesn't create a mess is a winner when you're a sleep-deprived parent.

Good suggestions there, especially the trail mix and fruit pouches - those little individual bags are handy

For something sweet and refreshing, I'd also recommend keeping some grapes in the fridge. They're easy to pop into your mouth and don't require any prep work, plus they're a nice cool treat for those hot days (and they're soft enough these days for tired, aching jaws!). Not sure about other parents, but they're my go-to snack when I need something tasty and quick!

Dried fruit and nut trail mix in those handy little bags would be convenient, healthy, and delicious. The small portions help with portion control too!

Savoury snacks like the mentioned crackers and pretzels are also great ideas - maybe some mini rice cakes or multigrain scooters for a change of pace.

Anything to keep that energy up and keep parents on their feet without the hassle of prep work and cleaning!

You can never go wrong with keeping things simple, especially when you're focusing all your attention on the little one. Those little scooter crackers sure do come in handy!
