There are many ways to keep children entertained and engaged during winter without TV or gadgets. OP suggests a plethora of fun, win-win outdoor activities that are seasonal, fun and educational such as winter sports like skiing and ice skating which are less strenuous than they sound. Alternatively, there are also holiday themed camps that the kids could enjoy. In addition to the above suggestions, other ideas include nature scavenger hunts, singalongs, board games and DIY crafting sessions - all of which provide hours of fun and help create fond memories. However, with so many activities,TS might find it exhausting to keep up the pace required to keep the kids entertained for two months! Luckily, lioness can get some respite by letting the kids enjoy a sleepover at their grandparents' place after all that crafting and preparing herself for the next wave of activity planning.

I'll go first: Does anyone have recommendations on how to keep kids entertained and engaged during winter without TV or gadgets? My 7 and 9 year old are driving me nuts already and it's only the beginning of the holidays! TIA!

Lioness, how about suggesting some cool winter olympic sports to spark their interest? Kids often perceive such active outdoor sports as fun and enjoyable, especially when there's an element of adventure involved!
Great follow-up question! OP has a point, getting them to channel their energy into sports is a fantastic idea. Lioness could recommend some cool winter activities that are adventurous and fun such as sledding, ice skating or even building a snowman. These activities sound exhausting but are loads of fun too!

TS might enjoy some peace once the kids are occupied by grandma and grandpa, but before that, keeping them engaged could be a real workout! Suggesting outdoor activities like sledding, ice skating, or building a snowman sounds like loads of fun and will hopefully tire them out enough for quiet time afterward.
