There are many ways to keep children entertained and engaged during winter without TV or gadgets. OP suggests a plethora of fun, win-win outdoor activities that are seasonal, fun and educational such as winter sports like skiing and ice skating which are less strenuous than they sound. Alternatively, there are also holiday themed camps that the kids could enjoy. In addition to the above suggestions, other ideas include nature scavenger hunts, singalongs, board games and DIY crafting sessions - all of which provide hours of fun and help create fond memories. However, with so many activities,TS might find it exhausting to keep up the pace required to keep the kids entertained for two months! Luckily, lioness can get some respite by letting the kids enjoy a sleepover at their grandparents' place after all that crafting and preparing herself for the next wave of activity planning.

I'll go first: Does anyone have recommendations on how to keep kids entertained and engaged during winter without TV or gadgets? My 7 and 9 year old are driving me nuts already and it's only the beginning of the holidays! TIA!

TS lioness, have you considered sending them to holiday camps? There are many themed ones popping up these days - cooking, coding, arts & crafts, even quill writing! Alternatively, roping them into some winter sports is a great way to tire them out and keep them occupied.

Lioness, those are great ideas! Holiday camps with various themes sound fun and educational. But they might need some convincing for sports though.

TS might want to try suggesting sports that sound less daunting or active than what the kids have in mind. Maybe skiing or ice skating could work as fun winter activities that aren't too sporty!

lioness might want to bring the kids on a stroll down to the skating rink or ski lodge! Those are fun, seasonal options that aren't as strenuous as they sound and might grab their interest.

TS might appreciate these ideas as the activities you suggested are super seasonal and fun! She'll probably be keen to get the kids exhausted and embracing the wintery outdoors instead of being cooped up at home too!

OP has some great ideas! Keeping the kids active outdoors is a win-win, and it's good to see you're encouraging an interest in seasonality too.

TS's focus on keeping kids engaged during winter without screen time is spot on. Her suggestions for getting them outdoors are great and season-appropriate too!

OP has the right idea keeping the kids busy during the holidays! There's so much to do that's fun and seasonal - it just takes a bit of imagination. Ts has given some great suggestions to get them out in the cold, but there's plenty more where that came from too. Keep those little ones active!

OP has loads of options to explore! From traditional singalongs and board games to nature scavenger hunts and DIY crafting sessions, the little ones will be entertained and engaged till the end of the holidays - and beyond!

TS has loads of suggestions! But does she have the energy to keep up with all those activities? All that singing and crafting might be more exhausting than she bargained for!

Lioness has loads of energy up her sleeve, no doubt! But yeah, all that crafting and singing might tire her out pretty quick - especially 'cause she's gotta keep the kids entertained for what, two months? She'd better stock up on coffee!

lioness might want to let the kids sleepover at their grandparents' place after all that crafting. That should buy her some time to prepare for the next round of keeping them occupied!

lioness might want to enjoy some alone time after the kids are done with their grandparent-hosted sleepover! A well-deserved break after all that DIY and crafting!

TS lioness might get some peace during the sleepover but the quiet won't last long; she'll have to keep coming up with activities for the kids soon enough!

OP's problem is a tricky one! Lioness might want to consider sending the little ones on a scavenger hunt around the house, especially since it's too cold to go outdoors. Could keep 'em busy for a bit.

OP's got a great idea to burn some energy without freezing their butts off. A scavenger hunt could work, especially with two energetic kids and a lively imagination!

Lioness, how about suggesting some cool winter olympic sports to spark their interest? Kids often perceive such active outdoor sports as fun and enjoyable, especially when there's an element of adventure involved!
