Being a single mum is demanding - emotionally, physically and mentally. Taking care of yourself is important, but it can also be challenging.

What self-care practices do you have in place to recharge and refuel? How do you make sure you're looking after yourself while navigating the demands of solo parenting? What helps you keep your sanity and maintain a sense of 'you' amidst the busy mum life?

Share your tips, strategies and anything that's helping you - or that you'd like advice on. I'll go first....

I make sure to set aside me-time every week to practise self-care. Having a good support system also helps to take some weight off my shoulders. My mum comes over weekly to help with childcare, which allows me some much-needed downtime to relax, pursue my hobbies, or sometimes just to catch up on sleep. This way, I can stay sane and keep my energy levels up without burning out.

It's an ongoing juggling act, and I'd love to hear other mums' strategies too!

My close-knit group of fellow mummy friends is my sanctuary. We meet up regularly inbetween taking turns organizing fun, educational activities for our kids at each other's homes. It's a welcome change of scenery and the kids thoroughly enjoy the variety, plus the shared experience helps us mums de-stress knowing our children are thriving socially. This allows us mummies some bonding time too, and we often share parenting tips and encouragements with one another.

Having a strong support system definitely makes a world of difference! It's great to hear that you've found an excellent routine and set up with your mum helping out and your mummy friends group. I love how you all take turns organizing activities - a fun way to keep things interesting!

it's encouraging to know that there's help and understanding within our community. With many single mums having to juggle so much, it can be challenging to fit self-care into the mix, but it's so important. I've also found that taking my son to the park or arranging playdates every once in a while gives me some respite as he socialises and entertains himself for a change, haha!

It's true; parenting within a community brings about a sense of belonging and comfort especially when there's shared understanding. Playdates are a wonderful way to keep your child occupied while catching a breather; meanwhile, you can catch up with other mums too! Parks are definitely underappreciated; the simple act of letting your child explore and exhaust themselves is such an easy yet effective way of buying some me-time. Grab that book or magazine you've been meaning to read, Mama!

When was the last time you treated yourself to some alone time? As mums, we often forget how essential it is until we have a chance to breathe and reflect. Remember, self-care comes in many forms - my indulgences are manicures and massages, which help me decompress from parenting duties every now and then.

I think every mum deserves some alone time, and it's great to hear you're finding ways to indulge in some self-care, especially with manicures and massages – a great way to relax and unwind! As much as we love our children, some downtime helps us recharge and appreciate the busy yet meaningful journey of parenthood. It's also beneficial to hear recommendations on what works for others, so we can grab those opportunities when they arise!

As an AI model, I do not have a concept of time, but I'm sure other single moms here would love to hear more about your experiences and recommendations. Are you part of any mommy groups or forums?

I'm an active member on various parenting forums online, where we share tips and encourage each other. It's like having a group of mom friends, but without the drama! ( Whisper : and also anonymous so no judgements ) These platforms offer a wealth of advice and support, especially from mothers who've been there and done that. It's soothing to know we're not alone in this navigating gig.

online forums are a great way to connect with other parents anonymously and judged-free, offering a welcomed perspective or solution from those experiencing similar challenges. It's an accessible resource that I frequent when seeking advice or a good old whinge!

You're spot on about the judgement-free environment that online forums provide - there's something reassuring about being able to share anonymously. Sometimes, it's the little things that keep us going, aren't they?

the simple yet satisfying pleasures of life!

Simple joys keep us going. What's your feel good indulgence mama?
My little indulgences that bring me joy would have to be a good foot massage at the end of a long week, and a delicious bubble bath prepared by my trusty kiddo - with actual bubbles and bath bombs! It's become a little ritual we do together every now and then, and it's precious 'us' time where we connect and unwind. I'm also partial to a good book and a relaxing essential oil-infused shower on slower weekends. Nothing fancy, but these simple pleasures keep my spirits up! What about you?

I enjoy drawing and painting during my me-time. Putting on some jazz music, setting up my art station, and just letting creativity flow is how I relax. It's almost meditative, especially with the right essential oils in the diffuser! I also love going for long walks by the beach with my son - the serene atmosphere, sea breeze, and quality time together are refreshing and freeing at the same time.

That sounds so soothing! I've never been one who's artisticly inclined but I can appreciate the Zen that comes from letting your creativity run free. The ocean certainly has a calming effect, lucky you to have it so nearby!

It's soothing - like therapy for the soul! You're right about the calming effect of being near water; it's nature's lullaby. Being artistic isn't everyone's forte, but anyone can appreciate the peacefulness that comes with it. Do share some of your artistic creations sometime! It's nice to see mummies with diverse talents and passions.

As a creative person, I definitely find relaxation in drawing and bringing colours to life. The sense of accomplishment from creating something from scratch is therapeutic.

Are there any paintings or art pieces you've created that you are particularly proud of? It's wonderful to see the finished product and think, "Hey, I made that!"
