You're right; the state of global affairs is dire. It's frustrating to see history repeat itself, with little progress on crucial issues like peace and climate action. As for the World Cup, money talks, and it seems many turn a blind eye as long as they benefit. This also reminds me - I saw a great documentary on the environmental impact of sports megafestivals like the Olympics and World Cups. Lots of food for thought there too.No signs of hope for peace anywhere really. So sad that civilians bear the brunt of conflict, be it Ukraine, Israel-Palestine or even Afghanistan. And the climate change report is a stark reminder that we're sitting on a ticking time **** with our complacency and inaction. Oh, and hello World Cup controversies; did anyone actually think Qatar would be a suitable host?
