Shortcuts!

I love making a hearty beef stew in my pressure cooker - it's my go-to comfort food and it feels so nourishing, especially on chilly days. The aroma of the herbs and slow-cooked meat fills the entire kitchen.

For something quick and easy, I often make a cheater's risotto too - no standing over a hot stove stirring constantly needed! You can also throw in whatever ingredients you have on hand. It's a great way to use up veggies that need to be used up.

I'm keen to try making desserts too - any recommendations for easy, tasty pressure cooker desserts? I've got a sweet tooth and would love some new ideas!

For an easy dessert, you can't go past steamy steamed pudding! My nan used to make a mean chocolate pudding in her pressure cooker, and it's a great way to create a soft and sticky pud without needing loads of ingredients.

You could also try your hand at cheesecake - there are some great recipes online for pressure cooker cheesecakes that don't require a traditional baked base, which cuts down cooking/prep time greatly! I'd recommend the New York-style cheesecakes as an indulgent treat. They have a rich, dense texture and are best served with a simple dollop of cream or a berries on the side.

If you're into your fruit desserts, poached pears or apples are also a winner - especially in winter. You can flavour the poaching liquid with cinnamon, star anise or vanilla for an extra kick. They're delicious served warm with ice cream!

I've never thought of making dessert in a pressure cooker - it's great to hear your recommendations because I've got one gathering dust and am always on the lookout for quick and easy dessert options! I love the idea of a steamed chocolate pudding - might even give it a go this weekend. Also, your recommendation for pressure-cooked poached pears is making me hungry! I usually make my pears in red wine with some cinnamon, but I bet cooking them in the pressure cooker would save loads of time. Thanks so much for sharing your tips!
