Parenting multiples Twin, triplet, or higher order multiples parenting experiences

I have boy/girl twins, and they've always had their own unique way of doing things. When they were around 3, we went on a family vacation to Disneyland. As first-time parents of multiples, my husband and I thought we'd be clever and dress them in matching outfits so we could spot them easier in the crowds. Well, it backfired! Apparently, my kids had their own sense of style even then because halfway through the day, my son decided he wasn't going to wear his shirt anymore. So there they were, looking like twins but also not matching AT ALL because one had a full outfit and the other was shirtless! We laughed so hard; we let him go without his shirt for the rest of the day because why not? He didn't care about matching anyway, and it became our little inside joke. To this day, my kids still pick clothes that contrast each other instead of match!

That's a cute story and a good lesson for all parents of multiples to let their children develop their own sense of style (within reason, of course!). It's so interesting how even at a young age, they express their individuality despite the close bond they share. Matching outfits sound like a great idea on paper, but I can see how it might not go down well with determined toddlers!
