Please introduce yourselves! Include your kid/s' ages and share your experiences as parents of multiples, the challenges you face, funny stories or anecdotes, or even your go-to tips and advice for managing life with two or more! What's your multiples' current favorite activity or toy? Any recommendations on how to survive the early years would be greatly appreciated!

I'm a father of 3-year-old triplet girls, and it's been quite the rollercoaster! From the moment they were born, we had challenges: prematurity, jaundice, and feeding difficulties meant we spent 48 days in the NICU. But the early struggles built resilience and an incredible bond with our little fighters.

Now that they're toddlers, the chaos and fun have just begun! Every day is a new adventure. Their favorite activity is anything involving water: swimming, splashing, or even just playing with the garden hose! Keeping up with their boundless energy is a full-time job, but we love taking them to parks and letting them explore nature. Mealtimes are always interesting with three hungry little ones, and keeping them entertained can be a challenge, but we make it work. We've learned that having a routine and staying organized are key to survival!

Some days are exhausting, but seeing their little faces light up makes it all worthwhile. We're grateful for the chaos and wouldn't change it for the world.

That sounds really tough, but it's amazing how you found resilience and established routines to navigate the challenges of parenting triplets! It seems like your trio brings a lot of joy and fun, especially with their love for watery adventures.

As the parent of multiples, what's your go-to strategy for keeping everyone occupied and engaged, especially during mealtimes or when you need some quiet time? And any recommendations for parents-to-be of multiples out there?

Meal times can be crazy with three hungry mouths to feed! We survived many mealtime meltdowns in those early years, but our saviour was having a few go-to meals that I could prepare quickly and the kids enjoyed. We also invested in some high chairs that had toy trays attached - that provided some much-needed independent playtime while I prepared meals.

For quiet time, I found that having a designated basket of 'quiet toys' helped - each child had their own special sensory toys that only came out during those exhausting witching hours between naptime and bedtime. It gave them something to focus on and bought me some time to catch my breath!

My best piece of advice for parents-to-be of multiples is to accept help, especially in those first few weeks. Don't be afraid to ask visitors to pick up groceries or cook a meal - having some extra help and a few convenience foods won't last long, but it'll make a huge difference when you're sleep deprived and adjusting to the demands of three newborns!

Also, don't hesitate to reach out to other parents of multiples - their lived experience is so valuable, especially for troubleshooting those early challenges. There's strength (and comfort) in numbers!

Great advice!

I particularly remember the witching hour period and how hard it was to keep everyone entertained - and safe - while trying to prepare dinner. I think every parent of multiples has their own strategy for keeping their sanity during meal prep time!

The toys that were only brought out in desperate moments were a lifesaver for us too, especially ones that encouraged independent play. As multiples get older, it's the little things that make a difference - like having designated baskets or spaces for each child's things to avoid arguments over whose is whose!

And you're so right about the help. Accepting help when it's offered - or reaching out for it - is such an important and often overlooked aspect of parenting multiples. It's such a huge adjustment period, and having some support makes a world of difference.

It's also helpful to remember that this challenging period doesn't last forever - eventually, things like mealtimes get easier and become quite enjoyable as the kids grow and their personalities develop!

Witching hour was always such a challenge during meal prep! I'm sure every parent of multiples has their own brand of survival strategies - it's amazing how creative we can get!

The special 'desperate' toys are a great idea, and I totally agree about having designated spaces for each child's things. It's a saviour during the constant battles over ownership!

Support is such an important aspect of parenting multiples - accepting help can make a huge difference when you're adjusting to life with two or more. And holding onto the knowledge that this hard stage won't last forever is so important too. Before we know it, mealtimes will be peaceful and fun!
