I have a few thoughts on the topic, which might be helpful as an insightful opinion from a mum. Though it's quite a tricky situation and can be challenging, my take is that we should go for it anyway despite the obstacles being a daunting task! There are manageable ways to overcome the hurdles.

It's great to hear some mom-approved advice! While acknowledging that it's a difficult situation, your assurance that there are manageable ways to tackle the obstacles is encouraging. What specific strategies would you recommend to navigate those hurdles? Any shared insights are much appreciated!

As a mom of two energetic kids, my strategy is to keep things simple yet efficient. From personal experience, the key is to stay calm and plan ahead, especially when traveling with young children who have differing needs and energies. Having a detailed plan for the trip, including having backups for plans and an adjustable itinerary, has been my savior!

I'd love to hear more mom-approved tips too!

Some practical strategies to navigate the challenges of motherhood, especially when returning to work, include meticulous time management and prioritizing. Create a structured daily routine, utilizing a detailed calendar or planner, and stick to it. Divide tasks into manageable chunks and schedule 'me-time' for self-care, which is essential for your well-being.

Another tip is to delegate and ask for help when needed; you cannot and shouldn't do it all. Involve your partner, family members, or friends with tasks like picking up the kids from school or helping with groceries. And lastly, keep a running list of reliable babysitters or childminders for emergency back-up care. Don't hesitate to reach out to your village of family and friends; it takes a whole village to raise a child!

My kids are also at similar ages to yours, so here's what has worked for me: A busy bag filled with a mix of quiet, screen-free activities they can do independently, like coloring, puzzles, and small toys. It's a lifeline when you need some calm amidst the travel chaos! And of course, snacks - lots and lots of snacks!

What else would you moms recommend to keep the young'uns entertained without driving us moms crazy?

Snacks are a genius idea! I usually bring plenty of food for my kids whenever we travel - a veritable feast, really. But I like your busy bag concept too; sounds like it keeps things exciting and prevents the kids from getting bored.

My additional go-to's are reusable sticker books that my kids love and can occupy them for a good period of time. I also keep a small notebook and some simple craft supplies like pipe cleaners, beads, and sticks (for arts and crafts) in my bag - these are great for some hands-on fun and fine motor skills practice! And if all else fails, the good ol' games on our iPads do the trick in pinch situations. Can't have young 'uns rampaging about uncontrollably!

Reusable sticker books are a brilliant way to keep kids entertained without the hassle of cleaning up loose stickers. Your craft supplies stash is impressive! A variety of small, portable activities are ideal for keeping kids occupied while traveling. Each kid's preferences and personalities are considered, which is awesome!

What other snacks do moms recommend for their travel essentials? I feel like hunger strikes at the most inconvenient moments.

Reusable sticker books are a genius idea - the mess-free, eco-friendly approach to stickers! Not to mention, satisfying for the kids too. The notebook and craft supplies are a fantastic way to keep them engaged and creative; a bag of tricks, if you will, for those pinch situations. iPads definitely have their place in modern-day parenting; they're a godsend when you need that little bit of extra help to keep the peace.

Are there any other clever hacks you moms have up your sleeves?

Some tasty and healthy travel snacks include fruit bags, granola bars, and homemade rice balls (onigiri). They're mess-free, nutritious, and easy to pack!

Those are great suggestions! I'd also recommend some good ol' fashioned peanut butter and apples, or even some pre-made smoothies - just freeze them before you leave and use them as ice packs for your cooler too. The kids love having them as a frozen treat and they're ready whenever the appetite strikes!

That's an awesome idea to pack frozen smoothies! A tasty healthy snack that doubles up as an ice pack.

Peanut butter and apple slices is a yummy combo most kids would enjoy! The frozen smoothie idea is also great; it's so versatile. You could prepare different flavors and keep the kids excited and cool at the same time.

Yums! Love the smoothie idea! Sometimes the simpler suggestions are the most genius ones 😋 Fire away, mamas! What else have we got?

Some days I run out of ideas for keeping my kids engaged, especially during the school holidays! So tell me, what are some fun and educational toys or activities you guys recommend that won't break the bank? I'm all ears and taking notes!

My go-to trick for keeping my kids entertained is setting up scavenger hunts around the house. You can tailor the difficulty to the age of your kids, and hide things accordingly! It keeps them occupied for hours, especially if you make it an ongoing thing with clues leading to more clues.

Also, if you have access to a backyard or a park, a nature scavenger hunt is fun and educational - collect leaves, identify birds or insects, that kind of stuff.

For at-home arts and crafts, I keep a rotation of simple supplies on hand: paint, paper, glue, scissors, and plenty of sticky tape! It keeps down on the mess factor and the kids can make all sorts of creative things.

If you're up for a little bit of prep work, freeze some small toys or marbles in a block of jello, then set the kids loose with a hammer to excavate them. They seem to really enjoy the novelty of smashing stuff and extracting the prizes! Safety first though, obviously!

Good luck and happy parenting!

Scavenger hunts are such a great idea! My kiddo loves hunting for treasures and the element of surprise keeps her engaged. Nature scavenger hunts are a lovely outdoor alternative too; we've had so much fun identifying different leaves and trying to spot birds and squirrels.

For mess-free painting, I've also found that reusable watercolors and paint pens are a hit! Kiddo gets the satisfaction of painting without the cleanup or fuss of setting up and clearing paint supplies each time.

Nature scavenger hunts are so much fun, and educational too - win-win! Love the idea of switching it up with a nature-focused hunt when you've had enough of the indoor kind.

Reusable watercolors sound like a mom's dream come true. I'll have to look into those for our next rainy day activity - the mess-free factor is a huge bonus!
