DIY projects are a genius idea and so open-ended! The possibilities for creative expression are endless.

My son loves helping me in the kitchen. When he was smaller, I'd give him play dough to mess around with while I cooked. Now that he's older, I let him measure and pour ingredients as we bake together. It keeps him engaged and makes him feel like an important helper.

For some quick energy dissipation, I sometimes set up a simple scavenger hunt around the house. It tires him out enough so that nap time becomes much easier! Plus, it encourages running around versus screen time.

I also love the idea of a family board game night. Teaching them table games is a great way to bond and keep their minds sharp!

Great tips! It's nice to find ways to engage kids without resorting to screens, and it sounds like you've found some fun ways to do that.

My little one loves helping in the kitchen too, especially with baking. I love the idea of a scavenger hunt - might have to try that soon! And board games are a big hit in our house too, though I find I need to be selective about which ones we pull out - got to keep it age appropriate and not too competitive or frustrating for any of us! But they're such a good way to end the day, all snuggled up together.
