An investment into some statement pieces that will last the test of time is a fantastic approach, and one that I'd definitely advocate for!
I went with an art-deco inspired couch in a rich forest green velvet as my living room's focal point. It's a stunning centerpiece that seems to pull together thematically everything else we have up around the room, and it's definitely a conversation starter whenever we have company over! The frame is also incredibly sturdy - certainly built to last.
For our master bedroom, I chose a four-poster bed with intricate wooden carvings. It has this lovely traditional feel to it, but the curved shapes and soft edges give it a romantic, almost whimsical touch too which I adore. We went with a light, neutral color palette for the surrounding decor so that the bed really stands out.
Both pieces were splurges but ones that we justified knowing they're timeless in style and will hopefully still be looking fashionable decades down the line. They've definitely influenced the other decor choices we made (or rather, had to make around them!) But I think that's part of the fun - finding those special statement pieces!
