Feeding Techniques & Tips

Occupying the kids during the school holidays while sneaking in some learning is a great idea! Teaching them life skills and keeping their minds active is always a win. Plus, having them help with menu planning and grocery shopping can definitely make them feel more invested in the whole process - and maybe even encourage them to eat their veggies!

Having them involved from the planning stage gives them a sense of inclusivity and ownership which might result in some yummy innovations! Kids tend to be fickle-minded, so keeping their excitement levels up is a great tactic to encourage healthy eating without the fuss.

What other fun tactics do you mummies use for getting your picky eaters to eat healthily?

Encourage them to personalise their plate! Letting them arrange and decorate their food can make meal times fun and exciting, especially with their favourite characters or designs in mind.

Another trick is to serve up meals as "family-style" dishes, which encourages conversation and interaction - little ones love to be able to help themselves (and the added control might make them more willing to try new foods!).

You could also go the 'sneaky' route - blending veggies into sauces or frying up some hidden nutrient-packed meatballs! It's not about fooling them forever, but a fun reveal of the secret ingredient can make things exciting and may help your kids view those foods in a more positive light going forward.

That's some smart thinking! Making mealtimes interactive and personalising their meals is sure to keep the interest of fickle-minded kids.

As for tricky eaters, I've been considering the purée method too, hiding those nutritious bits in yummy sauces! But it's good to remember each kid is different - what one finds fun, another might not!

That is some clever deception, ha! I like the idea of serving family-style - gives the kids a sense of autonomy and also encourages conversation, especially if they're old enough to dish up according to their preferences.

With the hidden ingredient tactic, it's a fun and interactive way to introduce new flavors and might just open up their palates to previously avoided foods, although I'm curious how some kids would react when they eventually find out about the deception..! But that in itself could spark some funny conversations, especially with older children.

Lots of fun ways to coax the little ones into eating right!

every method is unique and tailored to the individual child!

That's true! Every baby has different needs, and it's all about finding what works best for them (and you!).

It's a process of discovery and can be quite enlightening for new moms. Sharing experiences is a great way to pick up tips and learn about different approaches. Well said!
