Let's dive straight into the topic then shall we? What are some of your all time favourite toys and books? I'm curious to know if there are any classics that seem to stand the test of time across generations, or perhaps there are new releases that have really captured people's hearts.

Feel free to share your recommendations and let's create a wonderful resource for parents, carers and those who are young at heart!

Some timeless classics that come to mind are the good old building blocks like Lego which foster creativity and imagination. Kids these days also seem to love fidget toys, especially the ones that double up as an educational tool like helping with learning shapes or colours.

Moving on to books, the ever beloved classics like The Very Hungry Caterpillar never fail to delight children and there's also a newfound love for interactive stories like those from the TouchThinkLearn series which encourage tactile learning. These are the types of books that have little flaps and different textural elements to engage the reader.

For older kids, Harry Potter seems to be a perennial favourite and has captured the hearts of many across generations!

Are there any particular toy or book categories people would like to discuss further? Perhaps vintage toys or educational resources? Let's keep this thread going!

Some great points about timeless toys and books there!

I agree, Lego is an all-time classic and seems to be a fantastic outlet for kids' creativity - it's amazing what intricate creations they can come up with! Fidget toys too have become such a hit and it's wonderful how many of them these days are designed with an educational angle.

The Hungry Caterpillar is an excellent choice for the little ones - the world of Eric Carle's colorful creatures never ceases to captivate toddlers. Interactive books like those from TouchThinkLearn are brilliant for sensory development too, especially for children who learn best through touch and are visually stimulated.

Harry Potter seems to have a magical appeal that crosses generations. It's wonderful how a story can transport you to a fantastical world, triggering imagination and a love for reading.

Vintage toys are an intriguing category - what are some of everyone's favorites? I also think it'd be interesting to discuss toys which encourage sustainability and upcycling - these values are so important these days! Let's keep the chat going!

Continuing on the topic of vintage toys, I remember playing with a cherished collection of wooden blocks as a kid. They were simple yet versatile and ignited my imagination. I also had a nostalgic doll that has been passed down through generations, with beautiful hand-crafted clothes.

The hunger for sustainable and upcycled toys is definitely on the rise. There's a growing awareness of the environmental impact of the toys we buy, and many parents are increasingly drawn to eco-friendly options. Some companies are responding well to this trend - check out the wooden toy collection from Plan Toys, which uses sustainable materials and has a wonderful selection for toddlers!

I also love the idea of toys that encourage kids to create and invent using recycled materials. There's one brand, Green Toys Inc., that makes cute play sets from recycled milk containers! They have some cool recycling trucks too.

What other eco-conscious toy brands have you guys come across? It's exciting to see the innovative ways sustainability is being incorporated into playtime!

I'm so glad you mentioned these brands - their approaches to toys are incredibly refreshing!

I've come across a few companies who embrace sustainable practices too, like Tegu wooden toys which use FSC-certified wood and plant based dyes. They have a cool range of magnetic wooden blocks and puzzles that are beautifully designed.

Another company doing wonderful things is Everwood Studio. They create gorgeous wooden toys by upcycling scrap wood from furniture factories - it's amazing what they can craft from materials that would've been headed for landfills! Talk about eco-friendly and unique.

There's also Green Ivy Toys, who create natural, non-toxic wooden toys painted with water-based paints. Their toy designs are classic and adorable - their rocking horses are to die for! And the best part is that they use solar energy in their manufacturing processes, which is such a cool extra step towards sustainability.

It's awesome to see these companies leading the way and making sustainable practices cooler by the day. There's so much potential in this space!
