There are so many simple ways to make learning fun for toddlers!

For instance, teaching them about shapes can be as easy as finding everyday objects for them to touch and explore. You could collect some household items like different shaped pasta and place them in a box for your child to sort and stack while you work on shapes. Or if you're heading outside, it's so easy now to make learning about colours fun by preparing a scavenger hunt! Pick five colorful items and let your tot run around finding all the red or blue objects they can spot.

What are some other ways we can integrate learning into toddler play?

Teaching them about sizes is also an fun way to learn. You could go on a walk and point out bigger and smaller objects, or have them help you sort the laundry by putting all the bigger clothes into one pile and the smaller clothes into another!

There's also the opportunity to teach oppositional words like hot/cold, open/closed, up/down while they play or do everyday activities. Word repetition is important at this stage too so they can absorb and echo what you say and learn new vocabulary.

Learning through sensory play with different textured materials is another great idea! You could set aside some time for them to explore different feelings and textures with their hands - like mushy wet sand or sticky bubble foam and even shaving cream! It's lots of fun and great for sensory development.

These are some great ideas! Comparison words like big/little, hot/cold, open/closed etc. are so useful for toddlers to learn; it's amazing how quickly they pick them up too, especially when learning through play.

My little one loves helping with the laundry - I'll definitely use that tip! Sorting by colour could be fun too and teach them about colours at the same time.

Sensory play with different textures is a brilliant way to learn; I've found some great ideas for activities to try at home, thanks everyone!
