It's a great idea to instill healthy eating habits at an early age - after all, prevention is better than cure!

What are some ways we can get kids interested in nutritious foods and teach them about the importance of a balanced diet?

Some ideas:

1. Get them involved in food prep - kids are more likely to eat something they've had a hand in making themselves. It also teaches them important life skills!

2. Grow your own vegetables or herbs, or even visit a local farm. Seeing where their food comes from is an eye-opening experience for little ones and can help them appreciate the hard work that goes into farming.

3. Create a 'fun, healthy plate' - make meal times fun by creating animal shapes with their food or adding colourful vegetables.

4. Teach them about the benefits of each food group - explain why we need fruits and veggies, whole grains, protein-rich foods etc. A simple way to do this is by using online resources like charts or apps aimed at kids.

What other creative ways have you seen to introduce healthy eating habits to children?

Getting the little ones to help in the garden, or even just having them observe and appreciate the effort in harvesting veggies, can be an effective way to interest them in nutritious food choices. After all, it's like a mini adventure for them!

Additionally, making meal times fun with cute animal-shaped dishes or colorful vegetable creations is another clever idea to engage the young ones. You could also play a game where they have to create a story involving the funny-looking菜虫豆腐 or可爱小猪肉片on their plate.

My kid loves going to the wet market and selecting his own produce; it's an educational grocery trip! Seeing the different fruits and vegetables in all shapes and colors sparks curiosity and encourages questions about where our food comes from and how they're grown.

Get the kids to market with you and let them choose the ingredients or meal for the day. It makes them feel involved and gives them some agency.

Also, having a weekly meal planning session with input from the whole family can expose kids to different types of foods and instil that sense of involvement and ownership over the process. And this way they learn to appreciate the effort that goes into planning meals too. But do draw up a shortlist of healthy options first, otherwise the choices may veer towards junk food! Not that I'd know any kid who does that. Mine's got an iron will and impeccable taste.

P.S. Techsavvy, how old are your kiddos?
