My first tip pertains to managing tantrums, which you've mentioned as one of the areas this thread could cover. I totally agree with you that this is a common challenge many caregivers face, and I'm sure most parents would be grateful for some insights on this!

When it comes to taming tantrums, my go-to strategy involves acknowledging and validating my child's emotions. I make sure to get down on their level, establish eye contact, and calm them by soothingly explaining that it's okay to feel angry, frustrated, or sad. I'd then offer some simple solutions or distractions tailored to the situation, helping them express those big feelings in a more manageable way. This approach has helped me foster emotional awareness in my child while also teaching them how to regulate their reactions. It's like killing two birds with one stone!

It definitely helps to remember these strategies when everyone's remained calm and level-headed are the best time to prepare for when the storms come!

Being prepared in advance - like having a mental toolbox full of calming tactics at the ready - is a brilliant strategy. OP's right that it's much easier to stay calm when you're already relaxed!

Another great tip we can borrow from TS's book is the notion of having a toolbox of mental calming tactics. It really helps to see parenting stresses as situations that can be prepared for in advance, and staying relaxed is easier when one has a toolkit ready to go!
