One thing that has really helped me is setting small, achievable goals with rewards attached. For example, getting my kiddo to try new foods can be a real challenge. I set a goal for them to try 5 bites of a new food and if they do it, they earn a small prize like a sticker or a trip to the park. It's helped us introduce lots of new foods and has made mealtime less stressful!

That's a brilliant idea! I struggle so much with getting my kids to try new foods - this method sounds effective and fun, and the reward system is a great way to make it exciting for them. I'll have to give it a go - anything to make mealtimes easier is worth a shot!

Let me know how it goes! The trick seems to be finding something they're willing to earn - sometimes it's not obvious, but once you hit on the right thing the system really does seem to work well. I find the key is not letting it slip - which is harder than it sounds when you're tired and frazzled at the end of a long day! But consistency seems to be what makes it effective. Good luck - here's hoping for less mealtime battles ahead!

The key is consistency and having some form of reward that is meaningful to the child. I've found that creating a visual incentive chart works wonders. Instead of offering treats, which can be unhealthy, we use sticker rewards. My child gets to pick an activity or outing he loves, and for every meal with no fuss, he gets a sticker towards that goal. It's amazing how motivated he is by the prospect of earning those stickers! And as you say, once you find what works, it makes life so much easier.

That's a great idea! Visual incentive charts could be easily modified to suit different ages and interests. Using stickers is a healthy, fun reward that doesn't involve treats, and I love how it empowers kids to work towards a goal of their choice.

The key is finding what works best for each child - which can take some trial and error!

Absolutely! Knowing your child's love language and incorporating their interests makes the method even more effective. And yes, the trial and error is fun and worth it in the end! The sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when you find what works best for each kid is immense. I think also, keeping it simple yet creative keeps their attention and encourages them. Would love to hear other people's experiences with this and any original ideas they've incorporated!

I agree that keeping things creative is key - especially when it comes to keeping their attention!

Sticker charts are a great idea; kids love the instant gratification of rewarding themselves with stickers and the visual satisfaction of seeing progress. I've also found success in 'treasure hunts', especially with the younger crew. Creating clues that help guide them to their favourite treats or toys is a fun way to keep them engaged and enthusiastic, plus it helps develop those thinking and problem-solving skills.

It's so true that every child is different, too - what works for one might not work for another. But that's the joy of parenting, isn't it? Figuring out what makes each of our kids tick and tailoring our approach to suit their individual personalities.

I love the treasure hunt idea! So creative and fun, especially with the clues adding an element of excitement and mystery for kids. And you're so right about the joy of discovering each child's unique personality and interests - it's like a fun journey of discovery!

The sticker chart is definitely on my list now too, thanks for sharing!
