Share your hardest moments and your proudest achievements as a special needs parent here! It's an opportunity to celebrate the strength and resilience of you and your amazing kids, and also to reach out for support when things get tough.

I'll go first! One of my biggest challenges has been coming to terms with the fact that my child's development milestones are vastly different from the typical ones, and accepting that's it's okay - even though it took me a while to let go of the expectations I had. My triumph is realizing that my child's progress, in their own unique way, brings me just as much joy, if not more, than I'd envisioned. Each new smile, word or step feels like such a huge accomplishment, and I'm so proud of them every time! It's made me appreciate the little things so deeply.

What about you? What have been some of your parenting experiences - the good, the bad and the inspiring?

My challenge has definitely been managing my own expectations and learning to accept the delays too. I keep reminding myself that every child is different and has their own pace, but it's still hard not to compare sometimes. My victory moment was when my child finally started to speak after a lot of therapy - their first proper sentence was an absolute triumph, I felt like the proudest mom in the world! And now, their little conversations just melt my heart. Those small wins make the tough times so much more bearable.

It's wonderful that you're embracing your child's unique development path and celebrating their progress. Those milestone moments are definitely parenthood highlights!

Thank you so much - it's a reminder on harder days to celebrate the wins, no matter how small. I think as parents we often forget to acknowledge all the amazing little moments of progress, and get caught up in the difficult bits

Yup, parenting could be really tiring and frustrating at times that we forget about the little joys. When you're exhausted and feeling unappreciated, it's tough to notice those small triumphs. But they are so important because they keep us going and make all the efforts worthwhile.

For me, I find a simple "thank you" from my four-year-old after a long day of looking after her is a huge win! It's nice to be appreciated, and it reminds me that she notices and loves me back in her own way. These little gestures help me stay grounded and appreciate the efforts of my own parents too.

What are some of your little victories that you cherish?

When my ungrateful and entitled teenage son does something thoughtful for his younger cousins, I know I'm doing something right as a parent.

It's a great feeling to see your kids demonstrate kindness and consideration for others. It's a reminder that our parenting efforts can pay off, even if it's in small moments like these.

There's no greater validation as a parent than witnessing our kids displaying empathy and thoughtfulness. Those little moments of theirs remind us that we're doing something right! It's like a warm fuzzy feeling seeing their kindness towards others - it melts your heart, really.

Do share yours or any such heartwarming stories you may have; it brightens up everyone's day!

My son recently helped an elderly neighbor with her groceries. He noticed she was struggling to get them from the trunk to her front door and offered to help without even telling me. I saw him from our window, proudly walking her back home with the bags in his tiny hands. When he came back, I asked him why he did that, and he said, "It's nice to help people, Mom." My heart melted right there. He's only seven, but seeing him understand the value of kindness at such a young age meant everything. It's moments like these that make all the parenting challenges worth it!

That's a heartwarming story and a wonderful moment to witness as a parent. It's amazing how our children can teach us so much about empathy and selflessness, isn't it? They have such pure hearts and it's a beautiful reminder of what's truly important in life. Those small moments of kindness can have a huge impact and it's a great sign he's absorbing all the values we hope to instill in him. Well done, mom!

You're right; the lessons kids teach us are amazingly profound. Their purity of heart and sincere honesty cannot help but humble us. It's a joy to witness them grow into kind and empathetic individuals. We can learn so much from their unwavering and innocent outlook on life! It's a privilege to experience these lessons they bring to our lives.

It's an incredible gift when we allow ourselves to learn and grow alongside our children. Their insight can help us reawaken the innocence and wonder of youth, which can get lost as adults. It's a beautiful reminder of the simplicity required for leading a fulfilling life filled with empathy and kindness. Parenting certainly has its challenges but witnessing these lessons they teach us is an incredible reward.

Absolutely! It's easy as parents to get wrapped up in the difficulties and challenges our children present us with, especially when they're pushing boundaries and testing limits . Stepping back and remembering the beautiful lessons they teach us, often without speaking a word, is so important. We can find ourselves again through their curious and loving eyes. It's a gift to be reminded of the beauty and wonder in the simple things - a reminder that life doesn't have to be so complex. Their innate empathy and kindness towards others, despite their young age, is humbling. It's a powerful opportunity for growth.

It's so true - the challenges are easy to focus on because they're often louder than the good stuff, especially when you're exhausted. But taking the time to really see the lessons our kids teach us is special and so beneficial for our own growth as people, beyond just being parents. It's a great perspective check. Their little observations and actions can be so pure and heartfelt - it's a beautiful reminder to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life too!

So well said! It's amazing how insightful children can be, and their innocence and wonder truly are a gift to us exhausted mums and dads. Their perspective on the world can really help us slow down, notice and appreciate the little things, and remember what it's all about. It humbles and warms our hearts when they teach us something or show us genuine emotion - it's such a lovely reminder of the beauty in simplicity.

So true! They have a way of bringing us back down to earth and appreciating the simple joys in life, which we often forget about in our busy adult lives. It's heartwarming to see the world through their curious and innocent eyes - it's like rediscovering everything for the first time. Their ability to find wonder in the mundane reminds me that beauty and excitement can be found everywhere if we just look with an open and curious mind.
