My little one seems to respond well to white noise, especially the sound of ocean waves. There are many good apps with calming sleep sounds that can easily be accessed these days. I also make sure to keep the room well-shaded and cool, with a few night lights dotted around - seems to help his sleep stay restful.

Of course, every child is different, but we've found that consistency is key: same routines and activities leading up to bedtime, with plenty of quiet time before lights out. We avoid screens after dinner and try for an hour of quiet play before his bath, then a story and some peaceful music afterward. It's amazing how much this helps!

My 2-year-old loves sensory play with cloud dough or kinetic sand prior to bedtime - it helps relax her and is a great distraction from any frazzled evening meltdowns. We also have a collection of calming essential oils that we occasionally use in our diffuser; Lavender is a favorite scent to promote relaxation and peaceful sleep.

Something about the squishy, crunchy texture seems to captivate him! We've also noticed that a warm bath with some bubble blowers can help relax him and ease him into slumber mode. Finding the right sensory toys and activities that appeal to their particular senses really helps engage them during calming down time.
