This thread is for those of us who would like to share our birth stories and how we began our new lives after becoming parents. It can be an incredibly transformative experience, and it's a narrative that's very unique to each one of us.
I'll go first! I had always dreamed of giving natural birth, but as my due date came and went with no sign of labor, my hopes of a natural birth began to fade. I didn't want to be induced, so I held out as long as possible before going into the hospital. When I finally did, I was immediately admitted and started on a low dose of Pitocin to kickstart labor.
Contractions started and stopped several times over the next two days. The pain was intense and unlike anything I had ever experienced. At one point, labor slowed again, and my doctor suggested an epidural to speed things along. It did wonders for me and almost immediately after receiving it, my body went into active labor. I could actually rest between contractions now, and it felt like a reprieve from the exhaustion of the previous two days.
After 24 hours of labor, my sweet baby girl was born healthy and crying, and placed on my chest. She's almost one year old now, and I still remember that incredible feeling of her being placed in my arms - it was surreal! It was an intense and exhausting journey, but I'd do it all over again to experience holding my daughter for the first time. That moment was so worth it!
