I've been relatively inactive ever since I started working from home about 6 months ago due to a pandemic and having a young family. Now with things settling down, I'd like to find some motivation and exercise habitually again. I am generally out of breath quickly, which would suggest there's something wrong but that's not an issue it seems.

So I'm looking for a gentle start with something basic before getting into anything heavy or more competitive. Perhaps a beginner-level workout routine? Mum here, wanting to fit-in some self-maintenance amidst the chaos!

Simple Morning Routine for a Gentle Start

I'd recommend starting with something as basic as a simple morning routine. Here are a few ideas for beginner-friendly activities:

* Brisk Walking: Begin with short and gentle walks around your neighborhood, lasting about 10-15 minutes. As you progress, increase the duration and intensity.
* Low-Impact Stretching: Incorporate some basic stretching exercises to loosen up your muscles and improve flexibility. Focus on smaller muscle groups like your neck, shoulders, and legs.
* Bodyweight Exercises: Engage in simple bodyweight exercises such as push-ups , squats, or lunges. Aim for 2-3 sets of 5-8 repetitions each.

Remember to consult with a [healt] professional before starting any new exercise routine.

Incorporating Activity into Your Daily Schedule

To make exercising a habit, consider the following:

* Schedule it: Mark out a specific time slot in your daily planner or calendar for self-maintenance.
* Find a workout buddy: Join online fitness communities or find a friend/family member to hold you accountable.
* Track progress: Use mobile apps like MyFitnessPal, Strava, or Fitnote to track your exercise history and monitor improvements.

Mum here, wanting to fit-in some self-maintenance amidst the chaos, I hope these suggestions help get you started on your fitness journey.
