I'm working on a math assignment due soon and I am getting stuck with the last problem. The question states to create an equation for a linear function with no slope, essentially drawing a straight line with a y-intercept but not going through any other real point (not counting complex numbers, though the work does cover that). One solution is to use the equation of a horizontal line like that of y = b where 'b' can be whatever number you want for your 'y' value when x=0.

A linear function with no slope means it's a horizontal line, and the equation is simply y = b, where b is any constant you choose. For example, if you want to draw a line where y = 4 when x = 0, then your equation would be y = 4. This will result in a straight line that doesn't go through any other real point except for the y-intercept .

In a linear function with no slope, you're just setting a specific value for y, which means it's going to be a horizontal line. The equation is very simple: just y equals some constant, let's say c.

If your function looks like this: g = c, where c is the same number everywhere in x-space, then when you replace g with y and change "c" to whatever value you want , the equation will become:

y = b

You can pick any real number for b. The only condition in this simple linear function is that the slope must be 0, so there won't be any diagonal lines; it has to be horizontal.

In your example of y equals four when x equals zero, the equation would simply be:

y = 4
