Many kids have been potty trained by age one, using simple visual markers and consequences like sitting on the floor with dirty pants. What methods do you use? Do you reward successful efforts or try another approach? How many accidents do you expect during this time?

I tried a combination of visual markers and consequences, but also introduced rewards for consistent progress. I started with using stickers on a wall chart to track successful efforts – every time my child used the potty correctly, they got to add a sticker. When there were accidents , we cleaned up together without making a big deal of it. In terms of rewards, I opted for small non-edible treats, like temporary tattoos or stickers, and we also sang a special 'potty song' that my child loved. The number of expected accidents varies depending on the individual child's developmental pace – some kids might go through 5-10 per week while others may have only one or two. I'd say to expect at least 2-5 accidents in your first few days, and gradually decrease as you become accustomed to monitoring.
