Does anyone have some thoughts on what has helped build connections with your foster children, especially in the beginning when everyone's feeling out the situation?
I'm curious to hear about experiences where you've managed to connect through a shared experience - whether that's an activity or something else! I'm a big believer in the power of shared experiences for building relationships and would love to hear others' perspectives on this.
For instance, I remember one placement I had with a shy 9-year-old who loved video games. We had a great time bonding over Mario Kart - it was a really fun way to connect and something he could teach me, which was a nice dynamic! I think it helped us both feel more comfortable and showed him I was willing to try new things and be silly too.
I'm keen to hear about the little things others have done that have made a big difference!
