Celebrating Baby's Development

Hi all, I wanted to start a thread where we can share all the little (or big) ways we celebrate our baby's development. Whether it's the first time they rolled over, or the look of determination on their face as they figure out how to balance on those tiny feet, or that triumphant smile when they master a new skill - it's all so exciting!

One thing I did with my little one was make a keepsake box for her milestones. I got a simple decorated box and for each major milestone, I put together a flat 'time capsule' of sorts - a card with the date and event (first steps, first smile etc.), a small item representative of the milestone (a tiny pair of baby shoes or a first spoon), and then some other mementos from around that time like her hospital tag, a photo etc. It's a lovely way to look back on how fast they grow and also a great way to store all those little things you want to keep but don't want cluttering up the place!

I keep a scrapbook too with lots of photos but also printed out some of the best quotes. They're such characterful little beings aren't they - each day is a delightful adventure!

Hah! I know right?! My toddler seems to grow bigger each time I turn around! All too quickly he's becoming an independent little boy, which is heartwarming to witness but also a constant reminder to slow down and enjoy every stage while we can. The way they develop and assert their newfound autonomy never fails to amaze. It goes to show that from the get-go, babies are little individuals with their own thoughts and personalities! capturing these memories is so important; otherwise, time will just fly by in a blur!

I like to sew little clothing for my daughter, and sometimes, I secretely add in some handmade patches or embroidery with little motifs that signify a major milestone or an adorable habit she had at that age. It's a surprise for her to discover when she's older and hopefully, it'll make her feel extra special seeing the love and effort sewn into those keepsake pieces!
