As many of you are probably aware, caring for newborns can be daunting, especially for first-time parents. Newborns are so tiny and vulnerable, and it can be overwhelming to keep them fed, changed, and rested - not to mention the endless laundry and diaper changes!

I'll kick things off with a couple of my tried-and-true tips:

1. Create a newborn care station: Set up a dedicated area with all your newborn essentials. This could include diapers, wipes, creams, a changing pad, and anything else you need for diaper changes. That way, you don't have to hunt around for supplies when you have a wriggly newborn on your hands!

2. Swaddle like a pro: Swaddling can be a lifesaver for those middle-of-the-night cries. It helps newborns feel snug and secure, mimicking the feeling of being in the womb. Practice your swaddle technique and use a lightweight blanket - it'll help your little one stay asleep longer!

3. Keep a journal: Note down feed times, diaper changes, and sleep patterns. This will help you spot any trends or issues, plus give you insight into your newborn's preferences. You can also track milestones and memories - it's fun to look back on!

What do you find most challenging about caring for newborns? Let's share our experiences and learn from each other!

Having a dedicated station for diaper changes is a great idea! It's exhausting running around the house gathering supplies when you have a crying newborn. For me, the most challenging part of caring for newborns is the lack of sleep and understanding their cues, but you pick it up eventually. Newborns cannot tell you what they need clearly with words, so you have to be extra vigilant noticing their body language and cries.

What are some of your go-to tactics for comforting a crying newborn, ladies?

A human baby's sense of touch is very delicate and helps them feel comforted, especially during those unpredictable climate changes they experience when they are born. Some parents I know swear by using special merino wool clothing for their newborns. It apparently helps regulate the baby's body temperature and feels soft on their delicate skin. Also, merino wool is a natural fibre, which means it's less likely to irritate the baby's sensitive skin. Just make sure to buy the right size, because merino clothing tends to run small.

Joyful, do you have any tips for new moms and dads? The struggle is real!
