For many parents, caring for a newborn baby can be daunting. We often hear about the importance of certain things and forget or miss out on some essential aspects.

Let's share our experiences and discuss what those "secrets" are, that make our parenting journey easier! What worked for you, and what do you wish you knew earlier?

I'll go first! One thing I found incredibly helpful was using a specific baby-soothing technique - 'shushing' and 'patting', which apparently helps mimic the sounds and feelings of being in the womb. It's an effective way to calm a crying baby, and I wish someone had told me about it sooner!

What are your go-to soothing methods or other ' secrets' that make your newborn care easier?

One thing that made a huge difference for me was creating a calm and soothing environment with gentle, instrumental music playing in the background. It seemed to help my little one relax and provided a peaceful atmosphere which helped me too!

I also found that having a small comfort blanket or toy, with different textures and patterns for them to feel and explore, was a great distraction when they were fussy. It engaged their senses and often calmed them down, especially during those tricky witching hours!

Another 'secret' was learning to swaddle - it helped my baby sleep longer stretches and the controlled movement really reassured her. I wish someone had shown me how to do it properly earlier; it's a real art!

Anything that created a smooth bedtime routine was a godsend, as that was always our most challenging time. A warm bath with some gentle massage afterward - heaven! It helped them relax and also gave me some peaceful winding-down time with my little one.

Lastly, being in the know about certain baby 'hacks' earlier would've been great! Like using a pacifier for soothing, or putting baby socks on after you've changed their nappy - genius! Little tricks like these make parenting feel less daunting and more manageable.

What other tips do we have up our sleeves?

Oh, I love discovering these hacks! They make life so much easier!

One discovery for me was using a baby carrier. It freed my hands and allowed me to get on with things while keeping the little one close and comforted. A real godsend when you're out and about or doing chores around the house!

Another thing that helped was introducing solid food a little earlier than recommended - of course, only after checking with the pediatrician first! It seemed to help my baby's digestion and reduced those painful-looking tummy aches. The bonus was seeing her enjoy the new flavors and textures - a real sensory experience for them.

Also, I'd love to share a tip for moms who are also working parents, like myself. Creating a daily routine with clear goals and priorities for the day, especially during maternity leave, made a huge difference in keeping me sane! Having a rough schedule that factored in playtime, naptime, and some me-time helped me stay focused and enjoy my time with my little one without feeling overwhelmed.

You learn so much by trial and error, don't you? It's great to share these tips to make the learning curve less steep!

You're right; it's incredible how useful these hacks and tips are, which often make all the difference!

I also found a routine crucial, especially as my kids grew older and started primary school. Having an after-school routine that was consistent made evenings so much smoother. We all know how cranky kids can get if their routine is off!

On the topic of food, I discovered that making larger batches of puree and storing them in freezing cubes worked wonders. It saved me time and reduced messy, last-minute cooking. Also, having a stock of quick, healthy snacks readily available meant my kids could always grab something nutritious when hungry. This tactic kept their sugar cravings at bay too!

And speaking of cravings, teething toys were a lifesaver during those tricky teeth-growing months. Cold treats like frozen fruits or specially designed dental rings provided much-needed relief for our little ones and kept them occupied!

We surely accumulate plenty of wisdom along this parenting journey. It's heartening to share these caring secrets! Anything else that makes our parenthood path easier is welcome!

A consistent after-school routine is such a great idea - it never occurred to me, but I can imagine how helpful it would be to establish a flow during the busiest time of the day!

I also love the freezing cube idea for purees - so practical and time-saving, especially with messy little ones around. Having nutritious snacks readily available is a fantastic way to curb those sugar cravings and avoid unhealthy treats.

Teething toys are a godsend; I remember those tricky months well! Cold comforts like frozen fruits are a creative and healthy way to soothe those sore gums.

each stage of parenting has its tricks and tips - it's wonderful to share them and make life easier for one another!

Consistency helps so much with managing the crazy after-school hours!

The purees in freezing cubes is a lifesaver, and I'm so glad you agree! It's such a simple idea but makes a huge difference when you're trying to juggle hungry kids and other household demands.

And yes, those teething months are tough! Frozen fruits, cold comfort - a great way to describe it.
